Welcome to Gurwin’s Keyboard

gurwin_aboutIn this blawg I will address developments and trends at the intersection of technology, entertainment and media, and the law. More than almost any other area of the law, technology and entertainment law changes rapidly in response to emerging trends within these industries. Often, there is a lag between these changes and the law’s ability to “catch up” to address issues.

For example, when the Internet first became a vehicle through which contracts were being made, there really were no definitive “templates” to emulate to be sure that they would be enforced by courts. Over time, as courts validated the notion of online, click-wrap and browse-wrap agreements being enforceable, the rules for doing business over the Internet became clearer. And they continue to evolve and to be challenged by new technologies, social media and the cloud.

As a technology and entertainment lawyer, as well as a professional musician, I hope to bring some clarity, spur some conversation and add a bit of humor to these topics. I’ll also share with you some of my music and that of my favorite other musicians.

I welcome your feedback and suggestions for this blawg and if you like what you read, please share with others.
